Tryon Palace

This beautiful mansion can be found in New Bern, North Carolina. While the original burned down as was so often the case in the era, during the 1950’s the buildings and gardens were re-constructed to the original blueprints of the 1700’s. Actually the North Carolina governor’s residence when New Bern was the capitol of North Carolina, it was nicknamed “Lord Tryon’s Palace” by contemporary critics who saw the estate as inappropriate use of state funds.
